Torsioned is an adjective used to describe something that has been subjected to torsion, that is, twisted around its longitudinal axis. The term is uncommon in scholarly writing; more often authors speak of torsion or a twisted state. When used, it typically refers to deformation caused by torque or twisting forces.

In engineering and materials science, torsion occurs when a torque is applied about an object's axis. This produces shear stresses and angular twist. For a solid circular shaft, the maximum shear stress is τ = T r / J, where T is torque, r is radius, and J is the polar moment of inertia. The angle of twist is φ = T L / (G J), with L the length and G the shear modulus. Torsioned components include drive shafts, fasteners, and torsion bars; torsion testing assesses material response to twisting, informing strength, ductility, and fatigue resistance.

In mathematics and physics, torsion conveys twisting in more abstract contexts. In differential geometry, the torsion tensor measures the non-symmetry of a connection. In the study of curves, torsion describes how a space curve departs from planarity. In topology, torsion subgroups consist of elements of finite order in homology or homotopy. In gravity theories, spacetime torsion appears in models such as Einstein–Cartan theory, where spin can source torsion in spacetime.
