Torakat is a fictional city-state in a world-building context, located on the western coast of the continent of Valara. The name derives from the local Toraki language and is commonly rendered as “harbor of winds.”

Geography and urban layout: Torakat sits on a natural bluff above a sheltered bay, with a fortified harbor district and a hilltop citadel connected by terraced streets. The urban core is organized around a waterfront market, a public assembly space, and religious precincts, while residential quarters spread along stepped avenues and narrow lanes.

History: The city is said to have been founded in the late Bronze Age by the Toraki people. It grew as a trading link between inland kingdoms and seafaring cultures, attaining a regional peak between the 9th and 6th centuries BCE. In the following centuries, shifting trade routes and regional conflicts contributed to a gradual decline, though the city remained inhabited into the medieval period in this fictional setting.
