Toidulauad are pieces of furniture designed for meals and social gatherings. In Estonian, toidulauad is the plural form of toidulaud, the word for a dining table. They are typically placed in dining rooms or kitchens and may be used for eating, serving, studying, or working during gatherings.

Most toidulauad consist of a flat tabletop supported by legs, a central pedestal, or a combination of supports. Common materials include solid wood (such as oak, birch, or pine), wood veneers, metal, glass, and composite laminates. Shapes include rectangular, square, round, and oval, with rectangular tables being the most common in many homes. Heights generally range around 72 to 76 cm, while lengths and widths vary to accommodate seating—roughly 180 cm long for six seats and about 240 cm for eight when rectangular.

Variants include extendable or leaf tables, where sections insert or unfold to increase capacity, and drop-leaf or foldable designs for smaller spaces. Base designs range from four legs to a central pedestal, each offering different legroom and aesthetic.

Care and maintenance depend on material. Wood surfaces may require periodic cleaning and conditioning; avoid excessive moisture; use coasters and placemats; clean glass or metal surfaces with appropriate cleaners. Regular alignment checks help prevent wobble.

Toidulauad reflect both practical and social functions in homes, supporting meals, conversations, and everyday tasks. They vary widely in style, from traditional wooden forms to contemporary minimalist designs.
