Tietoturvahälytys, known in English as a security alert, refers to a notification or warning indicating a potential or actual security threat to a computer system, network, or data. These alerts are crucial components of modern cybersecurity strategies, designed to inform users or administrators of suspicious activity that could compromise sensitive information or disrupt operations.

Tietoturvahälytykset can originate from various sources. Antivirus software may trigger an alert if it detects malware, such as viruses, Trojans, or ransomware, attempting to infect a system. Intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS) generate alerts when they identify patterns of network traffic or system behavior that deviate from normal activity and suggest a malicious attack, like unauthorized access attempts or denial-of-service attacks.
