ticuhäireid
Tic disorders, known in Estonian as ticuhäireid, are a group of neurological conditions characterized by sudden, rapid, recurrent, non-rhythmic motor movements or vocalizations. These are known as tics. Tics can be simple, involving only a few muscle groups or sounds, or complex, involving more coordinated patterns of movement or vocalizations. Simple motor tics might include eye blinking, shoulder shrugging, or facial grimacing. Simple vocal tics can manifest as throat clearing, sniffing, or grunting. Complex motor tics can involve touching objects, jumping, or specific gestures, while complex vocal tics might include repeating words or phrases, or uttering socially inappropriate words (coprolalia).
The onset of tic disorders typically occurs in childhood, usually between the ages of five and ten.
Tic disorders are often associated with other conditions, such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
