Testificates, also known as villagers, are passive non-player characters found in the world of Minecraft. They are characterized by their distinctive green robes, large noses, and generally placid demeanor. Villagers spawn naturally in villages, which are procedurally generated structures found in various biomes.

Villagers have a defined set of professions, such as farmer, librarian, blacksmith, and butcher. Each profession grants them unique trading opportunities for the player. By offering specific items, players can acquire other goods or emeralds, the primary currency of villager trading. The availability and quality of trades often depend on the villager's profession, level, and reputation within the village.

Villagers can reproduce, but only if there are enough beds available and sufficient food is present. They exhibit simple AI, wandering their village, interacting with workstations related to their profession, and seeking shelter at night or during inclement weather. They are also susceptible to attacks from hostile mobs like zombies and illagers, though they can defend themselves to a limited extent. When a zombie defeats a villager, there is a chance the villager will reanimate as a zombie villager. These can be cured by the player using a splash potion of weakness and a golden apple.

The presence and prosperity of a village are often measured by the number of villagers and their well-being. Players can improve villager happiness by defending their village, providing resources, and engaging in trades.
