Telinevoimisteluun is the Finnish term for artistic gymnastics. It is a sport that involves performing exercises on various apparatus, each requiring a different set of skills and physical attributes. The sport is divided into two main disciplines: men's artistic gymnastics and women's artistic gymnastics, each with its own set of apparatus.

In men's artistic gymnastics, the apparatus include the floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. Men's routines often emphasize strength, power, and dynamic movements. The floor exercise is performed to music and requires a combination of tumbling, acrobatic, and dance elements. The pommel horse demands exceptional coordination and strength as gymnasts swing and circle their bodies around the apparatus. Still rings test upper body strength and control, with gymnasts holding static poses and performing swings. The vault is a short sprint and jump over a vaulting table, followed by a complex aerial maneuver. Parallel bars involve swinging, strength holds, and dismounts. The horizontal bar is characterized by continuous swinging, releases, and regrasps.

Women's artistic gymnastics includes the vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. Women's routines often showcase flexibility, grace, and artistry alongside strength and agility. The vault is similar to the men's, involving a run, hurdle, and aerial salto over the vaulting table. The uneven bars are two horizontal bars set at different heights, requiring gymnasts to transition between them with fluid swings, releases, and catches. The balance beam is a narrow apparatus on which gymnasts perform leaps, turns, acro elements, and a dismount. The floor exercise for women is also performed to music and includes tumbling passes, leaps, and dance elements, emphasizing creativity and expressiveness.

Both men's and women's artistic gymnastics are judged on difficulty, execution, and artistry. Gymnasts perform routines designed to showcase their highest level of skill and are scored by a panel of judges. The sport demands extensive training, dedication, and a high level of physical conditioning, including strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance.
