Televisionis is a term used in modern Latin-language discourse to denote the medium of television, or to refer to television in a possessive or adjectival sense (as in "televisionis industriae"). Although not attested in classical Latin, scholars adopt televisionis as a Latinized form to discuss television technology, programming, and culture within Latin texts, encyclopedias, and academic journals.

Origins and development: The concept of television originated in the early 20th century with experiments in the transmission of moving images. By the 1930s and 1940s electronic television became widespread in many countries, leading to rapid growth in home viewing.
