Teemamudel, often translated as "theme model" or "topic model," is a statistical method used in natural language processing and machine learning to uncover abstract "themes" that occur in a collection of documents. It operates on the principle that documents are mixtures of topics, and topics are distributions of words.

The most well-known teemamudel is Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA). LDA assumes that each document is generated by picking a set of topics and then, for each word in the document, picking a topic and then picking a word from that topic's distribution. The model then works backward from the observed words in the documents to infer the underlying topic mixtures for each document and the word distributions for each topic.

Teemamudel is particularly useful for tasks such as understanding the main subjects within a large corpus of text, organizing and summarizing documents, and discovering hidden patterns in textual data. For example, analyzing a collection of news articles might reveal topics like "politics," "sports," and "technology," with each topic being characterized by specific sets of words.

The output of a teemamudel is typically a set of topics, where each topic is represented as a list of words with associated probabilities. Additionally, it provides the topic distribution for each document. The number of topics is usually a parameter that needs to be chosen beforehand or determined through experimentation. Applications range from academic research to practical tools for content recommendation and search engines.
