In practice, tarafça often functions similarly to the agentive phrase tarafından, but it tends to carry a more formal, bureaucratic register and appears frequently in official documents, court filings, contracts, reports, and parliamentary texts.

The sense of tarafça can vary with context. It can convey that an action or statement is made by a specific side in a dispute or transaction (for example, “tarafça sunulan rapor” – the report presented by the party). Because Turkish relies on context to determine exact meaning, tarafça is often interchangeable with other agentive expressions, but it may sound unnatural in everyday speech.
