Taliolümpiamänge, known in English as the Winter Olympic Games, are a major international sporting event held every four years for sports practiced on snow and ice. The first Winter Olympics were held in Chamonix, France, in 1924. Initially, the Winter Olympics were held in the same year as the Summer Olympics. However, starting with the 1994 Lillehammer Games, the Winter Olympics have been held two years after the Summer Olympics, creating a staggered four-year cycle.

The Games feature a variety of disciplines including skiing (alpine, cross-country, freestyle, ski jumping, Nordic combined), snowboarding, ice hockey, figure skating, speed skating, bobsleigh, luge, skeleton, and curling. Athletes from over 90 National Olympic Committees have competed in the Winter Games. The organization and staging of the Games are the responsibility of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The Winter Olympics have seen significant growth in popularity and participation since their inception. New sports and disciplines are occasionally added to the program to keep the Games relevant and exciting. The host cities are selected through a competitive bidding process by the IOC. These Games not only showcase athletic prowess but also foster international goodwill and cultural exchange. The most recent Winter Olympics were held in Beijing, China, in 2022.
