tMbps

tMbps is not a widely standardized unit in telecommunications. The lowercase t is not a formal SI prefix for data rates, and tMbps does not have a universally accepted meaning. In practice, it may appear as an informal label in reports, datasets, or vendor documents.

What tMbps refers to depends on context. In many cases it is used to denote total or aggregate throughput—the combined throughput of multiple interfaces, links, or flows measured at a point in a network. In other contexts it may stand for temporary Mbps, as a temporary measurement taken during a test or during network provisioning. Some authors may use tMbps as a placeholder or shorthand for a value whose exact scale (Mbps) they do not want to spell out.

Because there is no standard definition, encountering tMbps requires checking the source’s methodology or glossary. If a source defines tMbps, note that definition; if not, assume ambiguous and prefer explicit units such as Mbps, Gbps, or Tbps. For conversion, 1 Mbps = 1,000,000 bits per second; 1 Gbps = 1,000 Mbps; 1 Tbps = 1,000,000 Mbps. When reporting aggregate throughput, it is clearer to sum the component rates (e.g., total Mbps = sum of individual link Mbps) and present both the aggregate and the breakdown.
