Säkerhetskopplingar, often translated as safety couplings or shear pins, are mechanical devices designed to prevent damage to machinery or equipment by intentionally failing under overload conditions. These couplings act as a deliberate weak link in a drive train. When the torque transmitted exceeds a predetermined limit, the coupling breaks or releases, thereby interrupting the power flow and protecting more critical and expensive components from destruction.
