Säilörehuksis, also known as *säilörehu* or *rehu säilö*, refers to the practice of preserving forage crops for livestock feeding, particularly in Finnish agriculture. This method involves cutting and drying grass, legumes, or other green fodder, then storing it in a compact form to maintain its nutritional value over extended periods. The term originates from Finnish, where *säilö* means "preservation" and *rehu* means "feed."

The process typically begins with mowing the forage at the optimal growth stage to maximize nutrient content. After cutting, the grass is spread out to dry in the sun, a process known as wilting. Once sufficiently dry, it is baled into tight bundles or compressed into silos, often with the addition of preservatives like lactic acid bacteria to prevent spoilage. This preserved forage can then be fed to animals such as cattle, sheep, or horses during seasons when fresh pasture is scarce, such as winter.

Säilörehuksis is particularly common in regions with cold climates, where natural grazing is limited for much of the year.
