Säilituskoopiad, often translated as backups, are copies of data that are stored separately from the original to prevent data loss. This process is crucial for individuals and organizations alike, as it provides a safety net against various threats such as hardware failures, accidental deletion, software corruption, cyberattacks like ransomware, and natural disasters.

The primary purpose of a säilituskoopia is data recovery. If the original data becomes inaccessible or is damaged, the säilituskoopia can be used to restore it to a previous state. This ensures business continuity, preserves personal memories, and maintains the integrity of important information.

There are several types of säilituskoopiad, including full backups, which copy all data; incremental backups, which only copy data that has changed since the last backup; and differential backups, which copy all data that has changed since the last full backup.
