Synergistically is an adverb describing a process or outcome that arises from synergy—the interaction of two or more components that produces an effect greater than the sum of their individual effects. The term derives from synergistic, itself from the Greek synergia meaning "working together" (from syn- "together" and ergon "work").

In practice, synergistic effects are sought in fields such as pharmacology, where two drugs may act synergistically to enhance efficacy or reduce toxicity; in chemistry and materials science, combined reagents or components can yield properties not predictable from each part; and in business or ecology, teams and species can interact so that overall performance or resilience improves. For example, two medicines with different mechanisms might relieve symptoms more effectively when used together, or a composite material might exhibit greater strength when components cooperate synergistically.

Synergistically is contrasted with additive effects, where the combined outcome equals the sum of individual effects, and with antagonistic effects, where one component diminishes another. Determining synergy requires careful experimental design and analysis; methods include statistical models and visual tools such as isobolograms. While the concept is widely used, genuine synergy is not guaranteed and should be demonstrated rather than assumed. The term is commonly applied in drug development, combination therapies, systems biology, and collaborative design contexts.
