Synapsoitumiseen, often translated as synaptogenesis, is the process by which synapses are formed. Synapses are the specialized junctions where neurons communicate with each other. This process is fundamental to the development and function of the nervous system, enabling learning, memory, and all other neural activities.

Synaptogenesis begins during embryonic development and continues throughout life, though it is most prolific during certain critical periods.
