Suède, or Sweden in English, is a Nordic country located on the eastern part of the Scandinavian Peninsula and on numerous islands in the Baltic Sea. It is bordered by Norway to the west and Finland to the northeast; Denmark lies to the southwest across the Øresund Strait. The capital and largest city is Stockholm. Sweden covers about 450,000 square kilometers and has a population of around 10.5 million. The official language is Swedish, with recognised minority languages including Finnish, Sami, and Meänkieli; Swedish Sign Language is also used.

Sweden is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary democracy. The Riksdag, a unicameral parliament of 349 members, enacts laws; the Prime Minister is the head of government and the monarch serves a largely ceremonial role. The country is known for a strong welfare state, extensive public services, and high levels of equality.

Economy: one of the world’s most developed, high-income economies. It is export-oriented and diversified, with strengths in manufacturing, technology, and services. Major industries include automotive and mobility (Volvo, Scania), telecommunications (Ericsson), and consumer brands (IKEA). The currency is the Swedish krona (SEK). Sweden is a member of the European Union but has not adopted the euro.

Society and culture: Sweden places emphasis on education, environmental sustainability, and gender equality. It has a rich cultural heritage in design, music, and literature; notable figures include Astrid Lindgren.
