Surmahüvitis is a genus of flowering plants in the grape family, Vitaceae. It is monotypic, represented by the species Surmahüvitis mirabilis. The genus name combines the fictional Surmah region with the Latin roots related to vines, reflecting its grape-like climbing habit. The species epithet mirabilis refers to its noted appearance in early botanical descriptions.

Surmahüvitis mirabilis is a woody climber that uses tendrils to ascend nearby vegetation or structures. Leaves are arranged alternately and range from simple to palmately lobed, with blades typically a few to several centimeters across. The plant produces small, inconspicuous flowers arranged in panicles, usually greenish or yellowish in color. Fruits are round berries that mature to a dark purple, containing several small seeds.

Distribution and habitat are limited to temperate montane forests of the fictional Surmah Highlands. It is typically found at elevations around 600 to 1,500 meters, in areas with well-drained soils and partial to full shade. The species tends to thrive where moisture is present but soils are not saturated.

Pollination is primarily by bees, and the berries may be consumed by frugivorous birds, which aid in seed dispersal. Propagation is possible by cuttings or seeds, with cultivation requiring sturdy support and a climate that avoids extreme cold.

Taxonomy and history: Surmahüvitis mirabilis was described in the early 20th century by botanists studying the Surmah flora. The genus has seen limited scholarly attention since then, with no widely recognized subspecies or major revisions to its classification.
