Superfícievolume is a term used in geometry to describe the relationship between a closed solid’s boundary surface and the volume it encloses. Conceptually, it pairs the surface area S of the boundary ∂Ω with the volume V of the region Ω inside that boundary, studying how these two measures interact under shaping and scaling.

Mathematically, for a solid region Ω ⊂ R^3 with boundary ∂Ω, the surface area is S = ∬_{∂Ω} dS and the volume is V = ∬∘∭_{Ω} dV. A central idea in superfíciesvolume is the isoperimetric relation, which bounds S and V together. The isoperimetric inequality in three dimensions states S^3 ≥ 36π V^2, with equality if and only if Ω is a ball. The dimensionless isoperimetric quotient Q = 36π V^2 / S^3 ≤ 1 attains its maximum value 1 for spheres, making it a useful measure of how efficiently a shape encloses volume given its surface.
