Suodatuskentän, often translated as "filtration field" or "leach field" in English, is a key component of a septic system used for treating domestic wastewater. Its primary function is to safely dispose of the liquid effluent that has been treated by the septic tank. The septic tank separates solid waste from the liquid, allowing the solids to decompose. The remaining liquid, known as effluent, then flows into the suodatuskenttä.

The suodatuskenttä is typically an area of unsaturated soil, usually constructed with a series of perforated pipes laid in gravel-filled trenches or beds.
