Stéréoscopiques refers to the creation or perception of three-dimensional depth and solidity in images or visual displays. This effect is achieved by presenting slightly different images to each eye, mimicking how human binocular vision works. Our brains then fuse these two images, interpreting the differences as depth.

The principle of stereoscopy is fundamental to 3D cinema, virtual reality headsets, and 3D photography. In cinema, two images are captured simultaneously, often from slightly different angles, and then projected in a way that each eye receives only one of the images. This can be accomplished through various methods, such as polarized filters or anaglyph glasses (red and cyan lenses).

In virtual reality, headsets display a separate image for each eye, tailored to the user's head position and orientation, creating a highly immersive sense of depth and presence within a digital environment. 3D photography utilizes specialized cameras or techniques to capture two viewpoints, which are then viewed through a stereoscope or a 3D display to recreate the perceived depth of the original scene.
