Stylistiku is a field of study focused on linguistic style and its function in communication. In many languages, stylistiku denotes the discipline known in English as stylistics, which analyzes how word choice, syntax, rhetoric, and other features create meaning, tone, and social effect in texts and speech. The aim is to explain how stylistic effects are produced and perceived, rather than to judge quality.

Stylistiku emerged from philology and literary analysis in the 19th and 20th centuries, drawing on Russian formalism, structuralism, and later functional and corpus-based approaches. The Prague School helped establish style as a scientific object, while corpus linguistics expanded quantitative study of style across genres and languages.

Analysts use close reading to interpret patterns of diction, imagery, and rhythm, and combine it with systematic methods such as corpus analysis, frequency measures of lexical choices, syntactic profiling, and identification of rhetorical devices like metaphor, parallelism, and repetition. The field spans both qualitative interpretation and quantitative analysis.

Stylistiku covers literary texts, media discourse, advertisements, political speeches, and everyday language. It also intersects with translation, where decisions about preserving voice and register are central, and with education, where stylistic awareness is taught to improve writing and reading.

Key concepts include voice, tone, register, genre, intertextuality, and stylistic variation across contexts. The field is interdisciplinary, linking linguistics, literature, media studies, and cognitive science, and it continues to evolve with digital tools such as corpus databases and computational stylometry.
