Studieforløp is a term used in Norwegian education to describe the planned sequence of courses, activities, and assessments that make up a student’s education program. It outlines what subjects or modules are taken, in what order, the required assessments, and the expected duration. Studying through a studieforløp may apply to both videregående opplæring (secondary education) and høyere utdanning (higher education), as well as vocational training.

In videregående opplæring structures is built around the chosen program (studieretning) and includes mandatory core subjects, program-specific courses, and possibly elective options. For vocational programs, studieforløp often includes a period of praktisk opplæring (internship) or on-the-job training and may involve a portfolio or project work to demonstrate competencies.

In høyere utdanning are study plans commonly formalized as degree programs with core courses, elective tracks or specializations, and often a thesis or final project. Credits (studiepoeng) are used to measure progress, and the distribution of points across semesters provides an indication of the expected pace toward graduation.

Implementation and governance: educational institutions draft studieforløp in accordance with national curricula and degree regulations. Students usually receive academic advising and can adjust their studieforløp within predefined limits, for example by selecting electives or substituting courses. The studieforløp guides scheduling, examination arrangements, and progression toward degree completion, aiming to balance structure with individual learning goals.
