Stropkeeping refers to the practice of maintaining and sharpening the edge of a strop, a tool traditionally used for honing and polishing blades such as knives, razors, or scythes. While the term itself is not widely recognized in mainstream lexicon, the underlying concept—preserving the quality of a strop—is rooted in traditional craftsmanship and metalworking.

A strop is typically made from leather, cord, or synthetic materials and is often stretched over a frame or wrapped around a handle. Its primary purpose is to refine the edge of a blade after initial sharpening with a whetstone or other abrasive tool. Over time, the surface of a strop can wear down or become uneven, reducing its effectiveness.
