Striasjoner are common skin markings that appear as lines or streaks. They are most frequently observed in areas where the skin has been stretched significantly over a short period. The most well-known type is striae distensae, often referred to as stretch marks. These typically develop during rapid growth spurts in adolescence, pregnancy, or during significant weight gain or loss. The underlying connective tissue, particularly collagen and elastin fibers, tears when it cannot keep up with the skin's expansion. Initially, striasjoner may appear reddish or purplish, but over time they tend to fade to a lighter, silvery-white color.
