Stihla is a type of cast-iron cooking pot originating from the Balkans, particularly Croatia. The term "Stihla" or "Stikla" refers to the lid or pot's interior fitting, which serves as a handle. The resulting design, featuring a separate lid and handle, enables the pot to be easily hung over an open fire or on a hook.

Stihla pots are designed for cooking methods similar to those used in traditional Dutch ovens. Charcoal, wood, or open flames are commonly used to achieve desired cooking temperatures. The exterior is often adorned with metal decorations or engravings, while the interior is usually unfinished to prevent corrosion and ensure seasoning.

Cooking with a Stihla pot allows for a hands-off approach, as the handle can be left in a hook or a holder. This simple yet practical design has become a staple in coastal and rural areas within Croatia, such as Dalmatia, where cooking time and energy consumption are minimized. Slow-cooked meat and vegetable stews, such as meat or vegetable stews for washing and traditionally named 'Veljcinice do Njemač' resemble a thick vegetable or meat soups.

Given the cast-iron construction, Stihla pots are expected to require regular seasoning to prevent rust. This typically starts at an angle of 45 degrees, then gradually leveled, to indoor usability and helps preserve the new protective layers formed on the metal.
