Standardpressurebased is a term used to describe measurement and reporting practices that base all pressure-related quantities on a fixed reference pressure, commonly standard atmospheric pressure (1 atm, 101.325 kPa). By normalizing to a standard pressure, data gathered under different ambient pressures can be compared directly, calculations are simplified, and instruments can be calibrated against a stable reference.

In practice, standardpressurebased methods appear in sensor calibration, gas flow accounting, and chemical engineering calculations where volumetric or mass flow rates are expressed at standard pressure (often denoted as Qst or ṁst).

The concept is closely related to standard temperature and pressure (STP) and standard state conventions. However, multiple standards exist (1 atm, 1 bar, different temperatures). Standardpressurebased approaches specify the reference pressure, the method of correction, and the equations used to convert measured values to the standard state, typically by applying ideal gas law corrections or empirically determined compensation factors and barometric pressure measurements.

Limitations: depends on accurate pressure sensing and knowledge of the standard chosen; wrong assumption can introduce errors. In some domains, 'standard pressure' is evolving toward SI-based definitions (1 bar = 100 kPa) or the use of SATP (25 C, 100 kPa).

In instrumentation and data reporting, standardpressurebased values are often accompanied by the ambient pressure and the standard pressure used for normalization.
