The main purpose of sprøjtetest is to characterize how a liquid is distributed by a spray and to verify that the device meets specifications. Typical objectives include assessing spray pattern and uniformity, droplet size distribution, spray angle, flow rate, nozzle integrity, coverage, penetration, drift, and wastage, as well as repeatability and reliability under defined operating conditions.

Methodology often involves a controlled test setup with a fixed distance between the spray nozzle and a test surface or chamber. Visualization and measurement methods may include dye or tracer fluids, high-speed imaging, and optical or laser-based instruments to determine spray pattern, coverage, and droplet sizes. The tests record environmental conditions such as temperature, viscosity of the liquid, and applied pressure, to ensure repeatable results.
