In law, the term sprawcza appears in the phrase odpowiedzialność sprawcza (causative or direct liability), denoting a type of criminal or civil responsibility that is attributed to the person who directly caused the prohibited result. The concept is distinguished from odpowiedzialność współsprawcza (joint or accomplice liability) and from odpowiedzialność pośrednia (indirect liability). Polish statutes and commentaries on the Penal Code use odpowiedzialność sprawcza to describe the primary accountability of the individual whose actions are the immediate source of the harmful outcome.

In linguistic contexts, sprawcza refers to the causative voice or construction, known in Polish as strona sprawcza of the verb.
