Splittereillä, often referred to as splitters, are electronic devices used to divide a single input signal into multiple identical output signals. The primary function of a splitter is to distribute a signal to several destinations without significant degradation in quality.

In audio systems, splitters are used to send a microphone signal to both a main mixing console and a monitor mixer, or to duplicate a line-level signal for multiple amplifiers. Video splitters perform a similar function, allowing a single video source, such as a DVD player or computer, to be displayed on multiple monitors or projectors simultaneously. The design of a splitter can vary depending on the application and the frequencies involved. Passive splitters, which do not require external power, are simple and cost-effective but may introduce some signal loss (attenuation). Active splitters, on the other hand, incorporate amplification to compensate for signal loss and maintain signal integrity, especially over longer cable runs or when dividing into a larger number of outputs.
