Spincasting is a method of metal casting where molten metal is poured into a spinning mold. The centrifugal force generated by the spinning mold distributes the metal into the intricate details of the mold cavity. This process is particularly well-suited for producing small, complex, and thin-walled metal parts. Spincasting is often used for creating components like jewelry, gears, decorative items, and fishing lures.

The molds used in spincasting are typically made of vulcanized rubber. The rubber mold is created by embedding a wax pattern of the desired part into a flask, which is then filled with uncured rubber. This rubber-filled flask is heated under pressure, causing the rubber to vulcanize and form a durable mold. Once cooled, the flask is opened, and the wax pattern is removed, leaving a cavity in the rubber that accurately reflects the shape of the original pattern.

When ready for casting, the rubber mold is placed into a spincasting machine. The machine spins the mold at high speeds, and molten metal, often alloys like pewter, zinc, or lead-based metals, is poured into the center of the spinning mold. The centrifugal force pushes the molten metal outwards, filling the mold cavity completely and capturing fine details. After the metal solidifies, the mold is opened, and the cast part is removed. Spincasting offers a cost-effective way to produce intricate metal parts with good surface finish and detail.
