spasie
Spasie is a term found in Afrikaans and, to a lesser extent, Dutch, that denotes space in a broad sense: the extent of volume available, a gap or interval, or the general notion of room and openness. In Afrikaans, it is commonly used for both physical space and the spacing between elements in a design or layout. In Dutch, however, the standard words are ruimte for space in general, spatie for a single space character in typography, and spasie is largely archaic or regional.
