Sozlashuv, commonly written as so‘zlashuv in Uzbek, is a form of verbal interaction between two or more people in which participants take turns speaking to convey information, share ideas, or negotiate meaning. In Uzbek linguistic and communication contexts, it encompasses everyday conversations, formal interviews, dialogues in literature and media, and interactive exchange in social life. The term derives from the verb so‘zlash- meaning to speak or converse, with the suffix -uv indicating the process or activity.

So‘zlashuv involves several core features. Turn-taking governs who speaks when, while topics are managed to sustain coherence and mutual understanding. Politeness strategies, pragmatics, and social norms influence how participants frame questions, offers, and disagreements. Non-verbal cues such as gaze, gestures, tone, and pace augment spoken words and help convey attitudes and intentions. Dialogues can be direct, quoting exact speech, or indirect/reported, conveying meaning without exact phrasing.
