Sorna is a fictional island in the Jurassic Park universe, best known as Site B, a secondary site used by the genetic engineering company InGen. It is depicted as lying off the coast of Costa Rica and serves as a breeding and cultivation area for cloned dinosaurs separate from the main park on Isla Nublar (Site A).

In-universe purpose and history

Sorna was created to house a separate population of dinosaurs, produced and raised in the wild as part of InGen’s experimental program after the planned public park on Site A faced changes in direction. Appearances in media

Sorna appears prominently in Michael Crichton’s The Lost World, as well as in film adaptations of the same title, where it serves as the primary setting for the dinosaurs’ life in the wild. Jurassic Park III also centers on expeditions to Isla Sorna, bringing the creatures into contact with humans once more. The concept of Site B is used within the franchise lore to distinguish Sorna from Site A, the original Jurassic Park on Isla Nublar.
