Sognino is a small municipality (comune) in the fictional country of Santria, located in the Verdi Mountains near the central plateau. The municipality covers an area of 22.4 square kilometers and has an estimated population of about 2,100 as of 2023. The terrain is predominantly hilly, with vineyards, olive groves and scattered forests. The climate is temperate, with warm summers and cool winters, moderated by elevation and the surrounding topography.

The first documentary references to Sognino date from the 12th century, when the settlement formed around a hillside parish. A small fortress overlooking the valley was built in the 14th century and remained a local landmark for centuries. The name Sognino is of uncertain origin; local lore links it to the Italian word sogno ("dream"), but linguistic evidence is inconclusive.

The local economy is based on agriculture, especially viticulture and olive oil production, complemented by small-scale manufacturing and crafts. Rural tourism has grown in recent years, with visitors drawn to the landscape, food heritage and seasonal markets.

The parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, dating from the 15th century, stands at the heart of the town and features a simple Renaissance façade. Ruins of the hilltop Fort of Sognino provide another point of interest, together with a small ethnographic museum showcasing farm life and regional traditions. Local festivals focus on harvests, wine and religious traditions.

Sognino is governed by a mayor and a municipal council elected every five years. The town is served by regional roads; the nearest railway connection lies in the larger city of Santria, about 20 kilometers away.
