Sirapens are a fictional family of medium-sized, nocturnal, arboreal snakes described in world-building guides and fantasy literature as endemic to the Sirapen Archipelago. The name is said to derive from the local term sirap, meaning glow, in reference to a faint bioluminescent stripe observed along the dorsal midline in several species. In most accounts, Sirapenidae contains a single genus, Sirapen, with three described species.

Physical description: Sirapens have slender bodies adapted to an arboreal lifestyle. Adults measure roughly 60 to 120 centimeters in length, with smooth scales and a coloration that ranges from olive to brown. A luminescent dorsal stripe, visible in low light, can appear pale blue or green and is particularly evident during night activity.

Ecology and behavior: Sirapens are nocturnal ambush predators that hunt small vertebrates and large insects. They are primarily arboreal, spending most of their lives in trees and dense understory. Reproduction is oviparous, with clutches of 2–6 eggs laid in leaf litter or hollow branches. Parental care is thought to be minimal.

Distribution and conservation: Sirapen species are described as endemic to the tropical forests, mangroves, and riverine habitats of the Sirapen Archipelago. In fictional treatments, habitat loss, invasive predators, and climate change are cited as threats.
