Sinuser is a term used in theoretical discussions of models for periodic user activity in digital platforms. It refers to a class of functions designed to capture recurring patterns in engagement data by combining sine components with a baseline level of activity. The term is a neologism, blending sine and user, and is not a standard mathematical object but a conceptual model used in time-series analysis.

A sinuser function models activity over time as s(t) = B + sum_{k=1}^m A_k sin(ω_k t + φ_k). Here t is time, B is a baseline activity, A_k are amplitudes, ω_k angular frequencies, and φ_k phase offsets. The frequencies ω_k are chosen to represent cycle lengths such as daily, weekly, or monthly patterns.

Sinuser benefits from linearity in parameters, enabling estimation via ordinary least squares or harmonic regression when data align with sinusoidal components. It shares a kinship with Fourier series in that it uses a sum of sinusoids, but it typically uses a small number of components tailored to the observed cycles.

Applications include forecasting typical traffic, planning capacity, and distinguishing regular seasonal variation from anomalies. The model can be extended by allowing amplitudes A_k to vary over time or by adding non-sinusoidal terms to better capture irregular events.
