Silisiumbronse, or silicon bronze, is a copper alloy in which silicon is the principal alloying element. The typical composition is about 96–98% copper and 2–4% silicon, with minor amounts of other elements such as manganese to improve strength in some grades. It is produced in both cast and wrought forms.

Silicon bronze combines the high electrical and thermal conductivity of copper with increased strength and hardness from silicon. It offers good corrosion resistance in many environments, including seawater, and it retains ductility after heat treatment. The alloy exhibits good wear resistance, is readily machinable, and has favorable casting characteristics such as low shrinkage and good fluidity.

Manufacturing and forms: Wrought silicon bronze can be worked by common metalworking methods, and cast versions are used for complex shapes. Welding of silicon bronze is typically performed with silicon-bronze filler rods or rods containing copper-silicon alloys.

Applications: Commonly used for architectural hardware (hinges, brackets, fasteners), marine hardware, sculptures, and decorative metalwork. It is also used as a welding filler metal for copper and brass and in some electrical components where good corrosion resistance is needed.

Notes: Silicon bronze does not contain tin like tin bronzes; its color tends toward a warm reddish-brown and it develops a protective oxide layer over time. The alloy is valued for its combination of corrosion resistance, strength, and ease of fabrication, making it a versatile choice in both decorative and functional metalwork.
