Silenciador, also known as a suppressor or muffler, is a device attached to the muzzle of a firearm to reduce the sound and muzzle flash produced when the weapon is discharged. It works by containing and slowing down the expanding gases that exit the barrel after a projectile has been fired. These gases are typically released at high speed and pressure, creating a sonic boom and a visible flash. A silenciador's internal design, often featuring a series of baffles or chambers, forces the gases to expand and cool within the device, thereby diminishing their noise and light output.

The effectiveness of a silenciador can vary depending on its design, the type of firearm, and the ammunition used.
