Siipipyörästä, often translated as impeller or propeller, refers to a rotating component that imparts momentum to a fluid, typically for the purpose of moving it. It is a fundamental element in many types of pumps, turbines, and fans. The design of a siipipyörästä is crucial for its efficiency and the specific application it serves. Blades, vanes, or paddles are attached to a central hub or shaft, and their shape, angle, and number are carefully engineered to achieve optimal fluid flow.

In pumps, a siipipyörästä is driven by a motor, causing it to spin within a casing.
