Sensoriteid is a family of small, subterranean, predatory centipedes belonging to the order Geophilomorpha. These centipedes are characterized by their elongated bodies and numerous pairs of legs, typical of centipedes, but they possess specific adaptations for their fossorial lifestyle. Their exoskeletons are often relatively thin and pale, reflecting their subterranean existence where protection from desiccation and predation is less of a concern compared to surface-dwelling species. Sensoriteids have reduced or absent eyes, as vision is not crucial in their dark environments. Their antennae are usually well-developed and serve as primary sensory organs for navigating and detecting prey in the soil.

The diet of sensoriteids consists mainly of small invertebrates found in the soil, such as insect larvae, springtails, and earthworms. They are active hunters, using their forcipules, modified legs located near the head, to inject venom into their prey. The venom immobilizes and begins to digest the prey, allowing the centipede to consume it more easily. Reproduction in sensoriteids is believed to be similar to other geophilomorphs, involving the laying of eggs in protected underground chambers.

Sensoriteids are found in various soil types across different continents, though their cryptic nature makes them less commonly encountered than epigean (surface-dwelling) centipedes. Their presence in an ecosystem plays a role in regulating populations of soil invertebrates, contributing to the overall health and function of the soil community.
