Semianilinlær, also known as semi-aniline leather, is a type of leather that has undergone a finishing process to enhance its appearance and durability. It sits between full-grain leather and pigmented leather in terms of its finish and how much of the natural surface is preserved.

In the production of semianilinlær, the leather hides are tanned and then treated with a light coating of aniline dye. This dyeing process allows some of the natural grain and markings of the leather, such as scars or insect marks, to remain visible. Following the dyeing, a thin protective topcoat is applied. This topcoat typically contains a small amount of pigment, which helps to even out the color and provide a degree of protection against stains and wear.

The resulting finish of semianilinlær is a compromise between the natural, breathable feel of aniline leather and the robust, uniform look of pigmented leather. It offers a pleasant feel and retains some of the leather's natural character while providing more protection than pure aniline leather.
