segregácie
Segregácie refers to the systematic separation or isolation of a group of people from others in a society. This separation is typically based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, religion, gender, social class, or disability. Segregation can manifest in various aspects of life, including housing, education, employment, and public services. Historically, segregation has been enforced through legal means, social customs, or economic disparities. In legal segregation, a government explicitly mandates separation. De facto segregation, on the other hand, arises from social practices and economic factors that result in separation without explicit legal enforcement. The consequences of segregation often include unequal access to resources, diminished opportunities, and the perpetuation of social hierarchies and discrimination. Efforts to combat segregation typically involve legal reforms, affirmative action policies, and initiatives aimed at promoting integration and equal rights. The term is closely related to the concept of apartheid, a historical system of institutionalized racial segregation and discrimination.
