Scrapedsurface is a term used to describe a surface that has undergone material removal in discrete, irregular portions, producing a jagged texture with features such as scratches or gouges. The term is not widely standardized, and its precise meaning varies by field.

In materials science and manufacturing, such surfaces can result from milling, deburring, cleaning, or wear, yielding a microtopography that is rougher and more anisotropic than a smooth finish. Features include nonuniform depths, directional textures, and a broad distribution of feature sizes.

In computer graphics, scrapedsurface is sometimes used descriptively for surfaces produced by procedural carving or erosion simulations, where an initial mesh is trimmed to create irregularities that resemble scraped material. In geology, scraped surfaces may refer to surfaces shaped by erosion or scouring that exhibits gouge marks and striations.

Measurement and modeling: surface roughness measurements such as Ra and Rz, 3D profilometry, and microscopy are used to quantify scrapedsurfaces. Modeling approaches treat the surface as a scratched texture or as a stochastic process generating irregular topography.
