Scenefremførelser is the Norwegian term for performances presented on stage before an audience. The category covers a broad range of live performing arts, including drama (tragedy and comedy), opera, ballet and other forms of dance, musical theatre, puppetry, and experimental performance. They are typically presented in theatres, opera houses, dance venues, or other stages and distinguish themselves from screen performances such as film and television, which are usually recorded or broadcast rather than performed live.

Historically, stage performances have roots in ancient ritual and festival theater and evolved through Greek, Roman, medieval, and Renaissance traditions. The modern system of professional theatre, opera, and dance emerged in Europe and spread globally from the 17th to 20th centuries, expanding repertory, companies, and touring networks. In Norway and other Nordic countries, scenefremførelser developed within national and municipal theatres and later diversified with experimental companies and contemporary dance ensembles.
