Sajupilvi is a Finnish term that translates to "cumulonimbus cloud" in English. It refers to a dense, towering vertical cloud that is associated with thunderstorms, heavy precipitation, and atmospheric instability. These clouds are formed by strong updrafts of warm, moist air. As the air rises and cools, water vapor condenses, forming cloud droplets and eventually ice crystals. The rapid vertical development of a cumulonimbus cloud can lead to significant changes in weather conditions over a relatively small area.

The appearance of a sajupilvi is often characterized by its immense size and dark, ominous base. The top of the cloud can spread out horizontally, forming an anvil shape, which indicates that the updraft has reached the tropopause. Sajupilvi clouds are responsible for a variety of severe weather phenomena, including lightning, thunder, heavy rain, hail, and strong winds. In some cases, they can also produce tornadoes. Their presence signifies a highly energetic atmospheric state.
