Résekzárást is a Hungarian term that translates to "sealing of gaps" or "crack sealing" in English. It refers to a construction and maintenance technique used to fill and seal cracks in various surfaces, primarily roads and pavements. The primary purpose of réskzárást is to prevent water and other incompressible materials from penetrating the underlying layers of the pavement.

Water ingress is a major cause of pavement deterioration. When water seeps into cracks, it can freeze and expand during colder temperatures, widening the cracks and leading to further damage. It can also weaken the base and sub-base layers of the pavement, reducing its structural integrity.
