Ryhmäkäytäntöjä, often translated as Group Policy Objects (GPOs) in English, are a feature of Microsoft Windows operating systems that allow administrators to manage user and computer settings in an Active Directory environment. They provide a centralized way to configure security settings, software deployment, scripts, and other operational aspects of networked computers.

Administrators can create GPOs and link them to specific organizational units (OUs) within an Active Directory domain. When a user logs in or a computer starts up, the relevant GPOs are applied, enforcing the defined settings. This ensures consistency across multiple machines and simplifies administration.

Key functionalities of GPOs include software installation and removal, script execution at startup or shutdown, desktop customization, security policy enforcement (like password complexity requirements), and redirection of user folders. They are a powerful tool for maintaining a controlled and secure computing environment. The hierarchy and inheritance of GPOs, along with filtering options, allow for granular control over which settings apply to which users and computers.
