Runkoputkien is a Finnish term referring to the frame tubes that form the main structure of a bicycle frame. The word combines runko (frame) and putki (tube). The frame tubes connect key components such as the head tube, bottom bracket, and dropouts, creating the triangle that provides rigidity and geometry for the bicycle.

Materials and varieties. Runkoputkien are made from steel, aluminum, carbon fiber, or titanium. Steel tubes are durable and forgiving, often chosen for traditional or touring bikes.
